SC21 Assesment day’s announced
Friday, May 11, 2007
WEAF, BAE Systems and SWMAS have confirmed dates for carrying out the SC21 assesments at CADI companies as part of the National pilot study. The SC21 concept has attracted international interest and expectation from the Aerospace community, with CADI companies being the first in the country to be officially assessed under the scheme.
7 CADI companies have nominated themselves for involvement in the pilot study, which involves an initial 2 day audit of their processes and procedures, followed by a comprehensive individual improvement programme for each company- which can be implemented over the next 24 months.
SC21 Accreditation will ensure that participating companies reach the requisit AS 9100 range of aerospace standards (or equivalent) and will enable heavy involvement in aerospace and defence supply chains.
CADI chairman, Paul Ranford, said “This is an outstanding opportunity for Cornish SMEs to get involved in the supply chains for the Aerospace prime contractors. The South West of England represents one of the most important, and active aerospace regions in Europe, and CADI companies are doing everything they can to get a slice of the action.”
“The fact that WEAF (West of England Aerospace Forum), BAE Systems and SWMAS (South West Manufacturing Advisory Service) are running the SC21 Pilot study through CADI companies emphasises the progress we’ve made and the potential of the group to become a serious contender for large Aerospace and Defence projects.”
The Schedule for the initial assessments is as follows:
23 / 24 May - Bassets Defence Services / Armada Marine Hydraulics
14 / 15 June - WES Engineering Solutions / DP Engineering
24 / 25 July - RAM Gaskets / Advanced Metals International / Rightons
