SC21 Meeting a success

Thursday, March 22, 2007

Representatives from BAE systems and WEAF were delighted with the recent SC21 meeting, in which CADI members had the opportunity to quiz the speakers about the benefits of SC21 and express their opinions of the scheme. A total of 20 representatives attended the ‘invitation only’ event at the West Cornwall Enterprise Centre.

Michael Brougham (CADI Development Director) kicked off proceedings with a round-up of the latest developments within the group, including:
- Over 15 members are now signed up, and we are well on the way to achieving the 1st year target of 20 members;
- CADI has initiated discussions with a variety of organisations in order to strategically align itself with RNAS Culdrose, Newquay Airport and the CUC, amongst others.
- It is anticipated that CADI will contribute positively to the employment, new business start up, and increased GDP targets outlined by the Objective One convergence programme.

Haydn Withers (WEAF) then provided a presentation on the SC21 scheme, including the objectives, benefits, and resources requirements for participating organisations. Haydn was supported by Mike Webb from BAE Systems who gave an insightful explanation of SC21 from the perspective of the Prime Contractors.

With regard to the SC21 pilot study, 6 companies will initially be chosen to participate in the scheme which will initially involve a 12 week auditing process, followed by the creation of a plan to develop the companies over a 12 to 18 month period.

Finally Karen Aelbrecht (WEAF) gave a presentation outlining the possibility for CADI and its members to exhibit on the WEAF stand at the Paris Air Show in June.
